Wrapping up 2024 and being prepared for 2025

The end of the calendar year typically marks the fiscal year end for many companies and an opportunity to wrap up any administrative reporting requirements. Any organization registered with Encorp Pacific (Canada) as their appointed agent to fulfill their regulatory requirements under the BC Recycling Regulation must report sales monthly and provide a verification of container unit sales into BC on an annual basis. The year-end report should cover sales:

• From January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024

• Broken down by month

• For all containers sold in BC by container type

As we head into the new year, it’s important to be reminded of your monthly reporting requirements. For 2025, there will be emphasis by Encorp on ensuring that all brand owners report sales and remit payments in a timely manner. As per the agreements between brand owners and Encorp as the appointed agent, brand owners must report sales and remit payments for the month within 7 days of the following calendar month. Encorp is available to provide any assistance needed to meet these critical deadline requirements to ensure your compliance with the Stewardship Plan.

The beginning of the year is also a good time to do a review and ensure all beverage containers are registered with the Return-It program. Below are some helpful reminders to ensure all your containers are up to date with our Brand Registry team.

• Double-check your list of “container registration” PDF sent by the Brand Registry team, or request a new list from brandregistry@returnit.ca

• A change in container size or flavour (seasonal / limited-edition beverages) needs to be registered as their own container in the database

• Notify the Brand Registry team of any registered containers that you are no longer selling

• De-alcoholized beverages are part of the Return-It program

To register beverage containers sold in BC, please use the Return-It online registration platform. If you have forgotten your company registration ID, reach out to the Brand Registry team.
